Designer Stubble

1. Load up your start image.

2. Make a new layer above above your start image.

3. Working on the new layer and using a mid Gray (around 9fa1a2) and a soft edged brush, paint in the
basic shape of the stubble you want to add. You don't have to be too accurate at this stage as you can clean it up later.

You should end up with something like this -

4. Next add some noise - Filters>Noise>Add Noise and use the settings shown (to start with anyway).

5. Next to apply some radial blur - Filters>Blur>Radial Blur and enter the settings shown (make sure the Zoom radio button is selected).

You should have something like this -

 

6. Now you need to change the blend mode on your stubble layer to Hard Light, this will get rid of the gray.
You should end up with something like this -

7. Now you need to darken up the stubble, to do this use the Burn Tool set to Mid Tones and a soft edged brush.

8. To finish off, use the eraser tool and a soft edged brush to clean up round the edge of the stubble to
give it shape. If all goes well you should end up with something like this -
